White Bird 2023 Torrent
Struggling to adjust to his new school after being expelled for his association with Auggie Pullman, Julian gets a visit from his grandmother and is changed by the story of her attempts to escape Nazi-occupied France during World War II. Originally scheduled for a September 16, 2022 release date, it was pushed back to October 14, 2022. Later that month, the film was quietly pulled from the schedule and pushed back to August 25, 2023 due to underperforming at the fall 2021 box office, and due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, it was pushed back again to an unspecified date. Grandmère mentions that Julian was expelled from Beecher Prep for bullying Auggie in Wonder (2017). However, in that film, Julian was never expelled from Beecher Prep for bullying Auggie. He was suspended for two days, and when his parents heard this, they decided to take him out of school at the end of the school year. Julian Albans: Right now, I'm just trying to fit in. That's kind of been my motto since I left my old school. Grandmother: What? Julian, you didn't leave your old school. You got kicked out for being cruel to another boy. Julian Albans: Whatever. You know what I mean. If I learned anything then, it's that I just have to mind my own business. Don't be mean, don't be nice. Just be normal. Grandmother: And that's what you learned? To be normal? Julian Albans: What's wrong with normal? Grandmother: Nothing. And everything.. Follows Čudo (2017). It Can't Be Wrong, written by Kim Gannon, Max Steiner, played by Vera Lynn. In 2017, a movie called WONDER (based on the 2012 book by R. J. Palacio) came out about a disfigured boy who attends public school for the first time. I just watched it. I really liked how they showed the story from the perspective of some of the characters. Keeping this trend going, a spin-off of sorts called WHITE BIRD (based on the 2019 graphic novel by the same author) was released. Don't worry, you don't have to have seen WONDER to understand what's going on. It's about Julien (Bryse Gheisar), a former school bully who gets a taste of his own medicine at a new private school. He gets a visit from his grandmother Sara (Hellen Miren), who tells him a story from her past. In 1942 France, young Sara (Ariella Glaser) has to hide from the Nazis. She is taken in by a classmate named Julien (Orlando Schwerdt), who has a lame leg due to polio. He and his parents (played by Gillian Anderson and Jo Stone-Fewings) hide her in their barn. This is a good film. The performances from the two leads are great and there is a lot of chemistry. Due to the circumstances, I was quite stressed throughout the film. The film does have an "Anne Frank" vibe, but that is done well here. In dark times, sometimes all we need is kindness and hope. The film is a little heavy-handed in places, but very solid. Remember, kindness can change someone's life.
